The Sterling Group
About
I’m the founder and Executive Director of The Sterling Group, a psychotherapy practice in DC specializing in therapy for young adults in their 20s and 30s. I started the practice because I believed therapy could feel more human, relatable, and outcomes-oriented — and less clinical or intimidating. Before opening TSG, I worked in nonprofit mental health settings in New York City after earning my Master’s in Social Work from NYU. I later transitioned into private practice in DC, where I saw how many young adults were struggling with burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, relationships, identity, and the pressure to “have it all together.” What started as a solo practice has grown into a collaborative group practice rooted in authenticity, growth, and strong relationships. At TSG, we care deeply about creating a culture where both clients and clinicians can show up as real people. Our work is warm, direct, relational, and grounded in helping people create meaningful change in their lives. As a supervisor, my style is supportive, collaborative, and honest. I value curiosity, self-awareness, accountability, and flexibility over perfectionism. I especially enjoy helping clinicians build confidence in their clinical voice, strengthen boundaries, navigate imposter syndrome, and develop sustainable careers in mental health. I also love mentoring clinicians who are interested in private practice, group practice dynamics, leadership, and creating a career that feels aligned with who they actually are. TSG was recently named “Best Therapy Practice in DC” by DC Modern Luxury magazine, but what I’m most proud of is building a team and culture that people genuinely feel connected to.

Supervision Style
My approach to supervision is collaborative, relational, and growth-oriented. I aim to create a space where clinicians feel supported enough to be honest about challenges, curious about their patterns, and confident enough to keep growing. I value authenticity over perfectionism and believe strong supervision should feel both validating and appropriately challenging. I tend to balance clinical skill-building with conversations about the realities of being a therapist — boundaries, burnout prevention, confidence, communication, imposter syndrome, and developing a sustainable professional identity. I want clinicians to feel empowered to trust their instincts while also learning how to think critically, stay accountable, and continuously refine their work. My style is warm, direct, and practical. I’m highly relational and believe feedback is most effective when it comes from a foundation of trust and mutual respect. I also care deeply about helping clinicians develop their own voice and style rather than trying to fit into a rigid mold of what a therapist “should” look like. Because I run a group practice, I also enjoy supporting clinicians in understanding the broader systems side of the field — including private practice dynamics, communication, leadership, client experience, and creating careers that feel both meaningful and sustainable long-term.
